How to install offline Maps on your BlackBerry 8800 / 8830 using TrekBuddy 0.976
BlackBerry smartphones are handy for GPS navigation helped by the excellent BlackBerry and Google Maps applications. When you are out of range of a data signal both these applications are unable to continue to provide a map. With TrekBuddy you can use offline maps, from Google and elsewhere, record route speed and waypoints, or use your phone as a direction finder. TrekBuddy is a great, freeware application developed by Kruch a Czech developer and is suitable for J2ME devices including a BlackBerry with OS 4.1 or greater.
I have used TrekBuddy 0.9.7.6 with Blackberry OS 4.2.
Using offline maps with TrekBuddy enables you to download maps at detail levels that suit you, that load quickly as they are stored on the SD Card, and of course do not incur any data download costs, this is especially useful when you are roaming overseas. The map on the right is a screen shot from a Curve 8310, using a map created with the excellent gm2tb- GoogleMaps to TrekBuddy site.
Potential Problems - Before Starting
Setting Application Permissions:I didn’t need to do this, but you may need to give TrekBuddy access to your SD card and access to your internal GPS Device. This is done on the BlackBerry by navigating to
Options->Security Options->Application Permissions->TrekBuddy->Edit Permissions->Set all to'Allow'
Setting the Path to Media Card: If your path is not correct you will get the following error:
Failed to start tracklog: file://wrong-path/ net.rim.device.api.io.file.FileIOException: File system error
This means you should carefully check your path to the SD Card
Connecting with USB: Always exit TrekBuddy before connecting the USB cable and entering Mass Storage Mode, otherwise TrekBuddy can crash and may require a battery pull.
How To Do It Step By Steps:
1. Download TrekBuddy: The ALX and COD files can be found via this link.(For Blackberry)

2. Install TrekBuddy: Use the BlackBerry Application Loader to install the application. Instructions on how to use application loader can be found here.
3. Set up the Folder System: Using Mass-Storage mode navigate to your SD Card using Windows Explorer, you need to create a folder called “data dir” with subdirectories called maps, resources, sounds, tracks-gpx, tracks-nmea, ui-profiles, wpts as shown on the diagram on the right.
Disconnect your BlackBerry from your PC and load the TrekBuddy application. Press the BlackBerry key to bring up the menu.
Go to Menu->Basic->Data Dir
This needs to be set to the location of the data directory you created, mine is
file:///SDCard/blackberry/data dir/
ensuring the slashes and capitalisation are correct. Next go to
Menu->Location-> GPS provider
for a BlackBerry such as the 8310 or 8800 you should set it to internal GPS. If you have an external GPS puck it can be set up here.
5. Test GPS Connection: To test the GPS connection on menu, go to Start to enable GPS and then press the # key to bring up compass mode. Once you have a signal you should have a compass display with your current location like this. The green dot shows that you have a GPS signal.
6. Download a Map: As standard no maps are supplied with TrekBuddy. The easiest way to download a map quickly is using the Google Maps to TrekBuddy website by AwokenMind. To use this website use Google Maps to find the area you want to create a map for, give it a name then click download. The tar file that you create should be placed in the maps directory of your BlackBerry.

7. Use your map!: Disconnect the USB cable, load TrekBuddy, Start the GPS, and select the map you have just added.

The Company SkyEurope Was terrible, when we were landing the plane was going a bit too fast so i thought we would crash ... so paintful for my back.
Then our first day we made a mistake with the Hotel Name, because there were 2 Hotels with the same name in Prague LOL !!
Ok the rest of the day was a tradionnal Visit of museums ...
2nd Day : 7h-8h Walk ... We haven't taken the subway LOL walked throught all the city and visited St Nicolas Church bautiful :D, Prague Castle(2h visit LOL) ...
3rd Day: We went to the Jewish Area, where there are lots of Synagoges ... And cubist Houses :P
We also went to a special restaurant called Mount Steak, and what is special there is the meat they serve. You will have the choice between Crocodile, Cobra, Kangorou, Zebra, Antilope, Horse, Autruche,Shark, Wild Pig ...

Vous allez croire que nous sommes particulièrement attachés à Free ces jours-ci, mais l'actualité le justifie !
Aujourd'hui, Free lance un nouveau service en beta qui permet en utilisant un téléphone compatible SIP de téléphoner depuis sa ligne Freebox (et donc de bénéficier des tarifs Free). Les téléphones SIP existent sous forme de logiciels ou sous forme de téléphone hardware, et ne nécessitent rien d'autre qu'une connexion Internet.
Concrètement, il vous suffit donc de télécharger et d'installer un logiciel SIP, et vous pourrez depuis n'importe quel accès Internet (depuis l'étranger par exemple, ou depuis un aéroport) téléphoner comme si vous appeliez depuis chez vous avec votre Freebox.
Sur Mac, une fois n'est pas coutume (espérons que cela le devienne), il existe un logiciel SIP qui fonctionne très bien et qui est gratuit : X-Lite.
Voici donc comment procéder :
1. Rendez-vous sur votre console de gestion Free
2. Activez le service SIP en entrant un mot de passe de 10 caractères au moins
3. Téléchargez X-Lite
4. Lancez X-Lite, et cliquez sur "Menu".
5. Allez dans les options suivantes : "System Settings"->"SIP Proxy"->"Default" et entrez les informations suivantes :
Enabled : Yes
Display Name : Ce que vous voulez
Username : votre numéro freebox
Authorization User : votre numéro freebox
Password : le mot de passe que vous avez entré dans la console Free
Domain/Realm : freephonie.net
Et c'est tout. Ne touchez à rien d'autre.
Si vous avez un routeur compatible SIP vous n'aurez rien à faire de plus.
Vous pouvez aussi sur l'interface de gestion de Free demander de recevoir vos appels sur votre téléphone SIP plutôt que sur votre Freebox si celui-ci est activé.
Enfin sachez que ce service n'est qu'en phase de beta test et peut tomber à tout moment.
Pour le moment gratuit, il risque aussi de devenir payant (certains parlent d'un peu moins de 10 pour l'activer, et plus rien ensuite).
Pour continuer avec Free, rendez-vous dans quelques jours pour une petite news sur nos premières impressions avec la Freebox HD...

La manipulation se fait en 2 parties

1) Se rendre sur http://subscribe.free.fr/login/
2) S'idendifier en utilisant ses identifiants free
3) Se rendre dans la rubrique "GESTION DE MES SERVICES DE TÉLÉPHONIE" de la console d'administration
4) Cliquez sur "Gestion de mon compte SIP "
5) Remplir le formulaire en choisissant un mot de passe (10 caractères minimum) et si l'on souhaite rediriger les appels entrant sur le téléphone SIP

Voilà c'est tout ! En principe vous devriez passé du statut "non inscrit" au statut "inscrit".
J'ai fait les Tests, il faut redémarrer son telephonne E61.
Ensuite il y a un message comme quoi si vous vous trouvez dans une zone géographique non supportée par le GSM, le SIP prendra le relai.
Un icone apparait en haut a droite de l'ecran.
Et pour etre sûr de téléphonner en VOIP et non en GSM Nokia a prévu un champ spécial Toip ...Il y a plus qu'a compléter ...
